A Message from Superintendent of Schools
Edward Ehmann
It is both an honor and a challenge to assume the role of Superintendent in a district as prestigious and as complex as Smithtown. The tasks which lie ahead can appear to be daunting, but I have full confidence in the Smithtown School Community to meet any future challenge as successfully as we have in our past.
Although we are the fourth largest district on Long Island, our district has a unique quality of community that approaches family type traits. Starting with the Board of Education comprised of community members with altruistic goals, and continuing through our talented corps of administrators, teachers, nurses, custodians, clerical staff, security guards, and parent organizations, the children of this district have always remained in the forefront of each stakeholder’s priorities.
Having worked in a variety of capacities among these hundreds of dedicated people, I can attest first hand to the superior dedication our employees possess. It will be my pleasure to lead this outstanding organization forward as we prepare future generations of students for success in the twenty-first century.
